Store Manager - Woodbridge

Responsible for utilizing and coordinating all services to manage store operations consistent with company interests. Demonstrates consistency in providing our customers with the highest level of Customer Service possible and that efforts to maximize sales and profits are made on a regular basis. The incumbent is responsible for achieving budgeted revenue goals and monitoring expenses. The Store Manager will directly impact the success of the store he/she is managing. The individual in this position is a key contributor for driving sales, increasing profits and ensuring there is an effective loss prevention program in place. A large component of this role is responsible for managing, mentoring and developing the store team.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES
Reporting to the Regional Manager, the Store Manager’s main responsibilities and duties will include:
Customer Service, Sales, Merchandising and Visual Presentation
- The Store Manager’s primary responsibility is to ensure smooth and effective customer service through instilling in their team the meaning and importance of good Customer Service.
- Responsible for monitoring quality service amongst Associates through continuous training and by representing as a positive role model and ensure seamless Customer Service by making every effort to locate merchandise not in stock and/or to check with other stores for availability and set up delivery details.
- Responsible for developing the store’s “core” Customer Service model.
- The Store Manager will identify new and innovative ways to generate and achieve sales goals and positively inspire their team to work towards these objectives.
- Coach and train store employees to properly present merchandise to customers while ensuring sales and merchandising activities are consistent with company standards.
- Continuously monitor store presentation and brand consistency.
Operations, Scheduling, Manpower, Payroll/Wage Cost Control, Store Maintenance and Loss Prevention
- Responsible for opening and closing the store and securing all assets; maintaining an efficient ordering system; maintaining all building mechanical systems are operating and reporting all building malfunctions or issues immediately; maintain and ensure security alarm system and cash handling is appropriately handled; ensure a clean and organized back stock area.
- Responsible for ensuring proper scheduling is set up, hiring new employees when there are vacancies or staffing needs and that manpower requirements are maintained.
- Ensures timely completion of weekly payroll authorization and monitoring of weekly wage cost dollars and operating ratio requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring all store supplies are maintained regularly and as-needed.
- Spearheads and oversees the Loss Prevention Program of the store and partner with management to ensure that best practices and all activities for loss prevention are completed in a timely manner.
- Maintains safe working conditions for all Associates and Customers; resolves safety concerns quickly; ensure store security from internal and external theft and report incidents of theft immediately to the Regional Manager, Head Office or local authorities as needed.
Budgeting and Planning
- Partnering with the Regional Manager, responsible for formulating the fiscal revenue, expense and profit goals for the store and ensure that the goals are achieved through appropriate planning and organization of employees, inventory and expenses; work towards meeting or exceeding the budgeted margin contribution.
- Maintain a loss prevention program to protect the Company’s inventory and assets through Superior Customer Service and take necessary actions to lower expenses if goals are not being met.
Hiring, Managing, Mentoring, Training, Performance Management and Employee Development
- Ensure all Associates are engaged in the store goals through reports, regular interaction and performance monitoring through the Company’s performance management program.
- Coach, train, inspire and develop staff Associates to help aid in the productivity and growth of the store.
- Ensure commitment and proactive actions in professional ongoing education of the Company’s Policies and Procedures, reporting, product updates and other Head Office mandates.
- Ensure work is appropriately delegated to Associates to ensure effective management of operations and store activities based on current business needs.
- Responsible for hiring individuals who peruse passion that relate to the Company’s products and philosophies.
- Responsible for issuing appropriate and suitable corrective actions including disciplinary sanctions as needed within the Company’s Policies and Procedures, escalating more complex issues to the Regional Manager as required.
Communications
- Facilitate regular communications with Regional Manager, staff Associates, and Head Office regularly as needed.
- Ensure and maintain open and positive communications and partner effectively with all Company areas.
- Enforce appropriate levels are followed with any request or inquiry (ie. Ensure that issues are escalated accordingly to the appropriate chain of command).
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Completion of high school is mandatory.
- Completion or partial completion of college or university education is an asset. A combination of experience and education will be considered for this role.
- Minimum 2-4 years management experience in a retail setting or relevant/related industry experience in combination with direct management experience.
- Willingness to complete or completion of a valid certificate in First Aid and CPR Training required.
- Positive attitude and willingness to work as a team towards company sales, profits, goals and objectives.
- Must be bondable.
- Must have previous retail sales experience and management experience.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office (Excel and Word).
- Must exhibit self-motivation, ability to train and delegate effectively, demonstrated problem-solving abilities and strong abilities to work in a team environment and positively influence others.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS
- Reports directly to the Regional Manager.
- Indirect reporting relationship to Head Office employees (Operations Manager, Owner).
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS
- Ability to safely lift boxes up to 40 lbs., to comfortably climb ladders and to stand for extended periods of time.
- Ability to reach overhead, bend, squat, kneel, and carry products for Customer Service, inventory restocking and store merchandising.
- Ability and willingness to perform general store maintenance tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, emptying the trash, and general cleaning (dusting, wiping, maintaining order, etc.)
- Available to work the store schedule from Sunday to Saturday.
- Available to work a minimum of 3 Saturdays per month.
- Available to alter work schedule conducive to the store requirements (ex. Short shifts, holidays, seasonal/busy periods, unexpected absences, etc.).
